Next Monday, 19th September 2016, a super motivated Deportivo Alavés will measure forces with Deportivo de La Coruña at Estadio Mendizorrotza for the last match of Round 4 of La Liga Santander.

Last Saturday, Deportivo Alavés have defied the odds and caused a major upset to the all-powerful Barcelona at Camp Nou. A 2-1 win was the prize for the Basque team’s tenacity and a punishment to a sloppy Catalan outfit who struggled to present a free flowing game with both Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez starting the match from the bench. Deportivo Alavés, on the other hand, pulled off a solid performance and grabbed the three points thanks to Deyverson and Ibai Gómez’s goals.

Recent signing Aleksandar Katai didn’t take part in last round’s match at Camp Nou, but will certainly be available for the upcoming visit to Galicia. Katai’s fellow countryman Aleksandar Pantic is fully recovered from a muscle injury and will be an option out there. Moroccan defender, Zouhair Feddal, on the other hand, will miss next round’s match at Riazor due to a sprained ankle.

As for Deportivo de La Coruña, after a good league start, the Galician outfit succumbed at home against an extremely organized Athletic Bilbao by 1-0. Depor had an apparent control of the match, but their 16 goal attempts failed to produce a single goal.

For Deportivo de La Coruña’s head coach Gaizka Garitano, next Monday’s match is a return to a Stadium he used to call home eight years ago back in his playing days with Deportivo Alavés. It will certainly be a special match for him, but first and foremost Garitano needs to help his team to return to winning ways after last round’s upset.

For that particular match, the Basque born manager will not be able to rely on the services of both Joselu and Sidnei, who suffered severe injuries last time out.
