Next Friday, 30th September 2016, Real Betis will visit San Sebastián to measure forces with Real Sociedad at Anoeta for Round 7 of La Liga Santander.

After a narrow midweek defeat at the Andalucia derby against Sevilla, Real Betis have managed to return to winning ways when they hosted Málaga last Friday night. Two local derbies in just three days’ time were a difficult task for an inconsistent Real Betis to overcome, but Gustavo Poyet’s men worked hard and got away with the three points. A first-half goal by experienced winger Joaquin proved to be enough for Los Beticos to win their first match at Benito Villamarin this season.

Next round’s visit to Anoeta will certainly prove to be another Herculean task for Real Betis to complete, specially if we have in mind that they have conceded a total of seven goals in their last two visits to San Sebastián.

Darko Brasanac, Ruben Castro, Joaquin, Petros, German Pezzella and Antonio Sanabria are all recovering from injury and are doubts next time out.

As for Real Sociedad, the Basque team pulled off their first win at Anoeta this season, when they went head-to-head with the surprising UD Las Palmas in the middle of last week. Nevertheless, their solid home win wasn’t enough to motivate the team ahead of last Saturday’s Basque derby and Real Sociedad ended up being defeated 2-0 at Ipurua by a hard-working SD Eibar.

The Txuri-urdin have been fairly inconsistent so far this season and Eusebio Sacristan still has a mountain to climb if he wants to restore some of the dignity the team have lost recently.

Aritz Elustondo picked up a red card last time out and will miss next Friday’s match due suspension. Toño and Yuri Berchiche are still recovering from their respective injuries and are doubts out there.
