Atlético Madrid are once again living the dream. After overcoming Espanyol at Cornellà-El Prat last weekend, Los Colchoneros outclassed the all-powerful Barcelona foe the second-leg of the UEFA Champions League Quarter-finals last time out. Atlético put up an extremely solid performance to defeat the Blaugranas by 2-0, in a match where they only had a ball possession percentage of 28%. The usual suspect Antoine Griezmann, netted Atlético Madrid’s both goals, the first one after a superb assist by Saul Niguez and the second one from the penalty spot.

Last Saturday, Diego Simeone’s men clawed an important win at Catalunya against Espanyol in a match that was far from easy and where Los Pericos opened the score on minute 29’ by Senegalese midfielder Diop. Atlético, however, managed to bounce back to built a solid 3-1 win with goals by Fernando Torres, Koke and Antoine Griezmann.

For next weekend’s predictably complicated match against Granada, Diego Simeone will not be able to rely on the services of Filipe Luis, who is currently suspended, and of Tiago, who remains sidelined due to a long term injury. As for Granada, the Andalusia team is for now safe from relegation after clawing four points from their last four competitive matches. The Nazaries’ undefeated streak has been going on for four matches and they are certainly hoping to extend it when they visit Vicente Calderón on Sunday. After holding Athletic Bilbao to a draw at San Mamés, Granada shared the points with their neighbours Málaga last time out and are now fourth from bottom two points above the relegation zone.

For next weekend’s visit to Calderón, José González will not be able to rely on the services of the Nigerian forward Isaac Success, who is currently suspended. El-Arabi, on the other hand, is struggling with a stomach injury and he is in doubt out there.
