Next Wednesday, 23rd of September 2015, a super motivated Celta Vigo will entertain the current Spanish champions Barcelona at Los Balaídos for Round 5 of the Liga BBVA.
Three wins and one draw in four matches is Celta de Vigo’s record at La Liga. The Galician team granted three important points in their visit to Sanchez Pizjuan last Sunday’s morning and secured their place among the top four of the league table. Celta’s head coach, Eduardo Berizzo, didn’t change much of his usual tactical approach and fielded his team with a hybrid 4-3-3 system with Augusto Fernandez, Daniel Wass and Tuco Hernandez composing the midfield triangle. Celta put up an almost vintage display in the first-half and they went to break winning by 2-0. Sevilla pulled rank in the locker rooms and pushed Celta against the ropes on several occasions during the second-half, but in the end, with just 10 men, after Jonny was shown the red card, the Galician team secured the three points and extended their undefeated streak at La Liga so far this season.
Celta’s next opponent is once again fairly complicated, but Los Celestes will certainly try to revive what they did last season at Camp Nou, thus trying to upset the current Spanish champions.
As for Barcelona, after a sour draw at Rome in the middle of the week, the Catalan team returned home to measure forces with Levante and experienced some unexpected difficulty, especially during the first-half. The half-time arrived with a goalless draw, but Barcelona put up a strong start after the break and scored three goals in 11 minutes, thus sentencing the match for good. The match ended with a solid 4-1 win for Barça and with a good performance from Lionel Messi, who scored twice in the game, and even had some time to miss a penalty.
Next Wednesday’s match will be a fairly special one for Barcelona’s boss, Luis Enrique, who will return for the second time to Los Balaídos, after having left the Galician team’s helm back in the Summer of 2014.
