Next Friday, 30th of October 2015, a motivated Atlético Madrid will travel to Galicia to measure forces with Deportivo La Coruña at the emblematic Riazor for round 10 of the Spanish Liga BBVA.
El Depor didn’t have the best of nights at Andalusia last Saturday and ended up conceding their second defeat of the season so far, the first one away from Riazor. Victor Sanchez’s men failed to control the match and offered Málaga the possibility of granting their second win of the current campaign. In the first-half, the Galician team had, nevertheless, a solid opportunity to open the score, when the Catalan forward Oriol Riera hit the post with an effort from the edge of the box.
It was an overall poor performance from Depor, who had been one of the most pleasant surprises of the season until this game. After last Saturday’s defeat, Deportivo La Coruña extended to three matches their winless streak, as they have only managed to grant two points from their last three competitive matches.
The experienced Spanish defender Manuel Pablo and the team’s goalkeeper, Fabricio, remain sidelined due to injury and will probably not be part of Victor Sanchez’s plans next time out.
As for Atlético Madrid, the Colchoneros seem to be back on track after winning their last three competitive matches. After a solid and easy win over FC Astana in the middle of the week, Diego Simeone’s men defeated Valencia at Vicente Calderón last Sunday night and therefore managed to reach the third place of the league table. The newcomer, Jackson Martinez, opened the score for Atlético just after the half hour and, just minutes later, the talented Belgian midfielder Yannick Carrasco netted the second and almost decided the match even before half-time.
The Colchoneros usually experience plenty of difficulty when they visit Riazor and next Friday will certainly not be different. Last season, Atlético snatched a narrow 2-1 win with two goals from Antoine Griezmann, who, funny enough, is also the team’s top scorer so far in this campaign, with 4 goals from 9 matches.
