Next Saturday, 21st of November 2015, Celta de Vigo will travel to Riazor to measure forces with their neighbours and all-time rivals, Deportivo La Coruña, for Round 12 of the Spanish Liga BBVA.
After being defeated at home by Real Madrid later last month, Celta de Vigo bounced back immediately and secured a fantastic 3-2 win at Anoeta against Real Sociedad with a last minute spectacular goal from Tucu Hernández.
Nevertheless, the defeat against the ten-time European champions has left some open wounds in the team and before the international break, Celta de Vigo were surprised at Los Balaídos by a mighty Valencia CF, losing the match by a staggering 5-1. Los Celestes array of defensive mistakes cost them their second defeat of the season, but the team’s overall performance left something to be desired. Dani Parejo’s goal from a free-kick just before half-time and Valencia’s third goal in the beginning of the second-half were a huge blow to Celta’s intents, in a match during which nothing seemed to go right for Eduardo Berizzo’s men.
For next weekend’s Derbi gallego, Celta’s Argentinean manager will once again be able to rely on the contribution of his fellow countryman Gustavo Cabral, who missed last round’s fixture due to suspension.
As for Deportivo, they are enjoying a fairly positive season so far and, as their upcoming opponents, they have only lost two league matches by now. Depor, nevertheless, have not managed to win any of their last five competitive matches, drawing four of them and losing one to Málaga at La Rosaleda later last month.
Before the international break, Victor Sanchéz’s men were once again held to a draw in their visit to Communidad Valenciana. The usual suspect, Lucas Pérez, opened the score for Depor in the first-half, but after the break Camarasa leveled the score for Levante.
Victor Sanchéz, who took the helm of the team later last season, has been doing a splendid work with Depor so far and will certainly cause Celta plenty of problems next time out.
Manuel Pablo and Lopo are still sidelined due to injury and will probably miss their team’s next outing.
