Next Monday, 1st of February 2016, a moralized Rayo Vallecano will travel to Galicia to measure forces with Deportivo de La Coruña at Riazor for Round 22 of the Spanish Liga BBVA.
A superb first-half performance allowed Rayo Vallecano to return to winning ways at La Liga after overcoming Celta de Vigo in Madrid last Saturday’s night. The Franjirrojos scored three goals in just fifteen minutes thus restraining an uninspired Celta to get back in the game. It was probably one of Rayo’s best performances of the season so far, but at the end of the match, Paco Jémez admitted that had the visitors fielded their usual starting XI, the match’s outcome could have been slightly different.
Rayo have only won five league matches so far this season and they are currently in a perilous situation at the bottom section of the table, just one point above the relegation zone. For next Monday’s extremely important match at Riazor, Paco Jémez will be forced to improvise due to the number of players who are currently sidelined because of injury. David Cobeno, Toño, Razvan Rat, Patrick Ebert, Antonio Amaya and Adrián Embarba will all miss out there.
As for Deportivo de La Coruña, the Galicia team is currently going through an extremely complicated moment, as they have only managed to win a single match during the last month.
Last weekend, Depor might consider themselves unlucky after letting the three points escape in the last minutes of the match against Valencia. The Galician team were in control for large periods of the match and they even opened the score in the first-half by the hand of usual suspect Lucas Pérez, after a flawless assist by Luis Alberto. Everything seemed to be in place for Depor to return to wins after such a long fast, but an injury time perfect header by Valencia’s captain Álvaro Negredo ruined the home side’s plans.
For next Monday’s complicated match against Rayo, Victor Sánchez will not be able to rely on the contribution of the team’s usual goalkeeper, Gérman Lux, who is currently suspended, and of Fabri, who will miss the rest of the season due to a long term injury.
