Next Monday, 18th of January 2016, the surprising SD Eibar will measure forces with Granada, who are desperate for points at the lower part of the table, at Estadio Municipal de Ipurua on what will be the last match of Round 20 of the Spanish Liga BBVA.

Last weekend, SD Eibar and Espanyol put up a very pleasant football afternoon at Ipurua that the home side managed to win by 2-1. A second-half goal by Borja Baston from the penalty spot helped the Basque team to claw the three points against a complicated opponent that drastically changed after the arrival of Constantin Galca last month.

SD Eibar are currently in a very impressive streak at La Liga after winning their last three respective matches and clawing a place among the six teams of the league table.

The Basque team winning streak was only disrupted by UD Las Palmas twice in just a week after the islanders eliminated SD Eibar from the Copa del Rey.

For next Monday’s match against Granada, the Basque team head coach, José Luis Mendilibar, will not be able to rely on the contribution of Ander Reina and Gonzalo Escalante, who are both currently sidelined due to injury.

As for Granada, the Andalusia team is currently fourth from bottom and have only won four matches so far this season. After a surprising, but deserved, home win over their neighbours of Sevilla, Granada failed to cause Barcelona any major upset during their visit to Camp Nou last weekend. The Nazaries were hammered by 4-0 and once again exposed the enormous frailties of their defensive sector. Granada, who were also eliminated from the Copa del Rey in the middle of the week, conceded no more no less than 11 goals over their last three competitive matches, something that keeps certainly worrying the team’s boss, José Rámon Sandoval.

For the travel to the Basque Country, the Madrid born head coach will not be able to rely on the services of Ruben Rochina, who is currently suspended. The Spanish goalkeeper Andres Fernández and the Italian defender Cristiano Biraghi are still recovering from their respective injuries and are in doubt out there.
