Next Saturday, 26th of September 2015, the current Spanish and European champions Barcelona will measure forces with the newcomers Las Palmas at Camp Nou for Round 6 of the Liga BBVA.
Barcelona were heavily punished during their travel to Los Balaídos last Wednesday. It was a particularly special match for Luis Enrique, but his new team ended up hammered 4-1 after a deluxe performance from Celta de Vigo.
The Catalan team once again exposed their defensive frailties and never seemed able to cope with Celta’s free flowing and short passing attacking game. Led by Nolito and Iago Aspas, the Galician team offered Barça a true football lesson and clinched their second win over Barcelona in just two seasons.
Luis Enrique’s men weren’t able to have the usual amount of ball possession percentage, since Los Celestes also privileged possession based football and tend to push the opponents against the ropes almost in every match they play.
Barcelona had 25 free-kicks and 10 corners throughout the match, but that doesn't meant that they had control of the match.
Rafinha, Claudio Bravo and Vermaelen remain sidelined due to injury and for that reason they will miss next weekend’s match against Las Palmas.
As for the islanders, Las Palmas’ return to La Liga has been so far very satisfactory. The Liga BBVA newcomers snatched their first win of the season on last Wednesday’s match against the UEFA Europa League holders Sevilla by 2-0, with goals from Mesa and Alcaraz.
Paco Herrera’s men showed once again that they are far from being pushovers, as they fully deserved their win at the end of the 90 minutes.
Lopez and Tana are currently sidelined and will probably not be part of Paco Herrera’s list for the match at Camp Nou.
The last time both sides went up against each other at Camp Nou was back in 2002 and, that time, Las Palmas secured an excellent 1-1 draw with a goal from their striker Orlando Suarez.

Regardless of the Galician turmoil last Wednesday, Barcelona are firm favourites for next round’s match against Las Palmas. The islanders, however, have only lost once in their two visits to Camp Nou and will most certainly give Barça a hard time next weekend.
