Next Sunday, 20th of September 2015, the all-powerful Barcelona will measure forces with Levante at the emblematic Camp Nou for Round 4 of the Spanish Liga BBVA.
The current Spanish champions, Barcelona, are already at the top of the league table after their 100% victorious streak at La Liga so far this season. Luis Enrique’s men snatched a splendid win during their visit to Vicente Calderón last Saturday, organising a strong comeback after being down 1-0 thanks to a Fernando Torres’ goal early in the second-half. A superb free-kick from Neymar and a classy effort from Lionel Messi granted Barça the three points and allowed them to maintain their two point advantage to Real Madrid after three matches.
In the middle of the week, the Catalan team travelled to Rome for their first UEFA Champions League match this season, but things didn’t work out as planned. Luis Suarez gave Barcelona the lead on minute 21’ but just ten minutes later AS Roma bounced back and got the equalizer thanks to an Alessandro Florenzi’s cheeky goal from the centre of the pitch.
It is still early in the season, but so far, Barcelona have filed to manage to put up some of the outstanding performances they presented last season. There is still plenty of work ahead for Luis Enrique to do, but the players themselves also need to improve, if they want to replicate what they achieved last season.
Dani Alves, Rafinha and Claudio Bravo will all miss next Sunday’s match due to injury. Pique, who remains suspended, will also not be part of Barcelona’s setup for the clash against Levante next weekend.
As for Levante, Les Granotes are still looking for their first win of the new season. Last Friday, the Comunidad Valenciana team snatched a home draw against the UEFA Europa League winners Sevilla thus granting their second point of the season.
Last season Levante conceded 10 goals on the two matches against Barcelona but back in the beginning of 2014 (during the 2013-14 campaign), Les Granotes forced the Catalan team to a 1-1 draw at Estadi Ciutat de Valencia and they are certainly hoping to revive that moment when they travel to Camp Nou next Sunday.
