Next Saturday, 28th of November 2015, the all-powerful Barcelona will host a refurbished Real Sociedad at the emblematic Camp Nou for Round 13 of the Spanish Liga BBVA.
Barcelona put up a tremendous display of power on their visit to Santiago Bernabéu last weekend and left Madrid with an historical 4-0 win over their all-time rivals. A superb display from their dynamic duo (Suárez and Neymar) left Real Madrid’s back line completely dazzled at the same time they exposed Los Merengues’ defensive vulnerabilities.
The Catalan team extended their good run in the middle of the week after overcoming AS Roma at Camp Nou for the UEFA Champions League. Barça won the clash by 6-1 with Lionel Messi returning to goals after his long absence due to injury. The Argentinean star scored twice in Barça’s hammering win and he have already displayed some impressive fitness levels.
Barcelona are currently going through a fairly impressive moment after netting 18 goals and conceding only one in their last five competitive matches.
For the upcoming fixture against Real Sociedad, Luis Enrique will still not able to rely on the services of Rafinha, who remains sidelined with a long term injury. Argentinean defensive midfielder Mascherano is still recovering from his injury and he is doubt next time out.
As for Real Sociedad, the Basque team seem to have already turned the page after David Moyes’ departure and have won their last match under the guidance of their new head coach Eusebio Sacristan.
Eusebio was an important Barça’s player back in the 1990s and was Barcelona’s farm team manager from 2011 until earlier this year and for that reason, he knows the Catalan team very well.
After two consecutive defeats, Real Sociedad returned to wins in their last outing when they hosted Sevilla at San Sebastian. Two late goals from Agirretxe and Xabi Prieto catapulted the Basque team to their third win of the season in the 12 matches.
Talented Spanish midfielder Illarramendi is currently suspended and will miss Real Sociedad’s next outing.
