Next Saturday, 31st of October 2015, the current Spanish and European champions will travel to the outskirts of Madrid to measure forces with Getafe at Coliseum Alfonso Pérez for Round 10 of Liga BBVA.
It is undeniable that the current Barcelona is nothing but a shadow of what they used to be last season. Inconsistent defensive performances and a midfield often deprived of ideas are Barça’s current main problems, something that together with Lionel Messi’s absence is certainly leaving the team somewhat adrift in the middle of an internal turmoil.
Last weekend at Camp Nou, the Spanish wonder kid Borja Baston opened the score for SD Eibar very early in the match and forced Barça to give their very best in order to bounce back. Luis Suarez was the man of the match as he netted the Catalan side’s three goals, thus allowing them to change places with Celta de Vigo in the league table.
Despite their win, Barcelona lost the Argentinean defensive midfielder Javier Mascherano for next weekend’s fixture, after he was shown the red card for verbally abusing a referee’s assistant. The Catalan team is, however, ready to appeal Mascherano dismissal, but if such appeal fails, the Argentinian international might face a four match ban.
For next weekend’s travel to Madrid, Barça’s boss, Luis Enrique, will still not be able to rely on the contribution of Messi, Sergi Roberto and Rafinha, all of them sidelined due to injury. The team’s iconic midfielder, Andres Iniesta, is reportedly back in training and might be part of Luis Enrique’s plans next time out.
As for Getafe, after last season’s managerial turmoil, the Azulones seem to have find some peace of mind and have been doing a positive campaign at La Liga so far. After a smashing win over the newcomers UD Las Palmas, Getafe were completely hammered by 5-0 during their visit to Sanchez Pizjuan last time out and such defeat might have a negative effect in the match against the Spanish champions, Barcelona.
Former Elche’s boss Fran Escriba has been doing a fairly good job with the players he has at disposal so far and, next weekend, the team will at least try to replicate the goalless draw they snatched against Barça last term.
Vigaray, who is currently suspended, and Vazquez, Lafita and Medran, all out due to injury, will not be part of Fran Escriba’s plans for the travel to Catalunya.
