Next Monday, 23rd of November 2015, Getafe will go head-to-head with Rayo Vallecano on an important Madrid derby at Coliseum Alfonso Pérez for Round 12 of the Spanish Liga BBVA.
After a narrow defeat at the Basque Country against SD Eibar, Rayo Vallecano pulled rank and returned to wins at the expenses of Granada before the international break. It wasn’t by any means an easy match for the Vallecas team, that had to play with just ten men from minute 19’ after the Portuguese centre back José Castro was shown the red card because of a rough tackle from behind.
Rayo started the match at full steam and, with just ten minutes played, Los Franjirrojos were already winning by 2-0. The former Cardiff striker, Javi Guerra, was once again the man of the match, netting his team’s both goals. The 33-year old forward has already scored eight goals so far this season and he is alongside with Cristiano Ronaldo and Agirretxe, in the third place of the top scorers’ list.
Rayo are currently in the twelfth place of La Liga’s table with 13 points from 11 matches so far and have already managed to put up some interesting performances, especially when playing at Vallecas, in front of their enthusiastic supporters.
For next Monday’s Madrid derby, Rayo’s charismatic head coach, Paco Jémez, will not be able to rely on the contribution of the Romanian defender Razvan Rat and with two of the team’s experienced goalkeepers, Cobeño and Toño, all of them currently sidelined due to injury. José Castro, on the other hand, will also miss the Madrid’s derby due to suspension.
As for Getafe, the Madrid outskirts’ team is not going through a particularly positive moment after being defeated in the last three league matches.
The heavy defeat at Andalusia against Sevilla later last month opened some breaches in the team’s foundations and Los Azulones have lost all the matches they have played ever since.
In their last match before the international break, Getafe travelled to the Basque Country where they were defeated by an impressive SD Eibar.
Dámian Suárez’ red card in the second-half restrained Getafe, who saw Saul Berjon netting in, from the penalty spot, SD Eibar’s third goal as a consequence of the Uruguayan defender foul.
For next Monday’s derby, Getafe’s manager, Fran Escriba, will not be able to count on the services of Dámian Suárez and Alexis, both currently suspended, nor with Medran, who remains sidelined due to injury.
