Granada vs Celta Vigo Prediction, Betting Tips & Preview

Next Sunday, 20th of December 2015, Celta de Vigo will travel to Andalusia to measure forces with Granada FC at Estadio Nuevo Los Cármenes for Round 16 of the Spanish Liga BBVA.

Last Saturday, Celta de Vigo experienced no major difficulty to overcome Espanyol at Los Balaídos and clawed their eighth win of the season. Los Celestes were always in control of the game and, although they have only scored one goal, they could have won the match by a significantly larger margin, given the impressive number of goal chances they had.

A superb goal from former Liverpool man Iago Aspas just before the break proved, in the end, to be enough for Celta to claim the three points. The canterano pulled off a vintage performance and was beyond any doubts the man of the match.

Celta, who played with just ten men for a large part of the second-half after Tucu Hernández was shown the red card, managed to keep pushing Espanyol against the ropes and enjoyed from plenty more opportunities to score the second goal. Theo Bongonda, Nolito and Iago Aspas were a constant menace to Espanyol’s defensive line and were, at the sametime, responsible for annihilating the visitor’s game, every time they tried to build up from behind.

Before next weekend’s travel to Andalusia, Celta de Vigo will host UD Almeria at Los Balaídos for the second-leg of the 1/16 finals of the Copa del Rey.

Nolito, Tucu Hernández and Jonny are currently suspended and will miss their team’s next league match at Estadio Nuevo Los Cármenes. Nemanja Radoja and Andreu Fontás are dealing with long term injuries and will also miss out there.

As for Granada, the Andalusia-based team has not been having the best of times so far in La Liga and they are currently fourth from bottom with just 14 points from 15 matches.

Last weekend, the Nazaries clawed a vital 2-1 win over Levante thanks to a late goal by the Venezuelan forward Adalberto Peñaranda. The 18-year old youth international was, in fact, the man of the match after netting his team’s both goals that evening.

Before hosting Celta de Vigo next Sunday, Granada will still go head-to-head with Liga Adelante’s side CD Leganés for the second-leg of the 1/16 finals of the Copa del Rey.
