Next Saturday, 5th of November 2015, Celta de Vigo will travel to Andalusia to measure forces with Real Betis at Benito Villamarin for Round 14 of the Spanish Liga BBVA.
After two consecutive league defeats, Celta de Vigo returned to winning ways at Los Balaídos when they hosted Sporting de Gijón last Saturday night. Los Celestes were somewhat fragilized after their heavy 5-1 home defeat against Valencia and their lacklustre overall performance in the Derbi gallego against Deportivo de La Coruña, but they somehow managed to overcome the Asturian team thanks to a late goal by Nolito.
Celta’s head coach, Eduardo Berizzo, presented some changes in the usual starting line-up by fielding John Guidetti and Theo Bongonda instead of Iago Aspas and Daniel Wass and the team nodded in agreement during the first thirty minutes of the match. After that win, Celta de Vigo are now in the fourth place of the table, just three points behind the all-powerful Real Madrid.
In the middle of the week, Los Celestes defeated second tier side of UD Almeria by 3-1 with two goals from Iago Aspas and another from John Guidetti in the first-leg of the 1/16 finals of the Copa del Rey.
For the predictably complicated upcoming match against Real Betis, Eduardo Berizzo will not be able to rely on the contribution of Fontás (injured) and Pablo Hernández (suspended), and with Nemanja Radoja, who underwent surgery early this week.
As for Real Betis, the Andalusia powerhouse has been slightly inconsistent so far this season and they currently occupy the 11th place of the table with 18 points from 13 matches.
Last weekend, Pepe Mel’s men pulled off an excellent win against Levante at the Comunidad Valenciana in an extremely complicated match that was solved thanks to an early goal from the usual suspect, Rubén Castro.
The Béticos got another win in the middle of the week, when they measured forces with Sporting de Gijón at Benito Villamarin for the 1/16 finals of the Copa del Rey. Two second-half goals from Vadillo and Vargas placed the Andalusia team in a good position to book a place in the next stage of the tournament.
