Next Wednesday, 30th of December 2015, Real Madrid will go head-to-head with Real Sociedad at the emblematic Santiago Bernabéu for Round 17 of the Spanish Liga BBVA.

Last round’s match between Real Madrid and Rayo Vallecano at Santiago Bernabéu ended being a true goal galore. Los Blancos won the Madrid derby by the unusual score of 10-2 against a nine-man Rayo that managed to put up a strong opposition before two of their players were sent-off in a short period of time.

Real Madrid started the match in great style, with the Brazilian right-back Danilo opening the score after an assist from Gareth Bale on minute 3’. Working against the grain, Rayo managed to get back in the game in just ten minutes. Amaya leveled the score on minute 10’ and just few moments later Jozabed put the visitors on the lead. Real Madrid were against the ropes but managed to put up a strong comeback much because of some dubious referee decisions that lead to Raúl Baena’s red card before Ronaldo’s penalty that allowed Los Blancos to net in their third goal.

For next round’s home match against Real Sociedad, Rafa Benítez, who has not yet managed to fully convince Real Madrid’s supporters, will still not be able to rely on the contribution of Daniel Carvajal, who remains sidelined due to injury.

As for Real Sociedad, the San Sebastian team is definitely not having the best of times, as they’ve failed to win any of their last three matches. After being eliminated from Copa del Rey by UD Las Palmas two weeks ago, Real Sociedad failed to gain the three points when hosting Villarreal at Anoeta last round. The Basque team was defeated by 2-0 and are now just two points above the relegation zone in the league table.

For next Wednesday’s clash at Santiago Bernabéu, Eusebio Sacristán, who replaced David Moyes at Real Sociedad, is not yet certain if he will be able to rely on the services of Alberto De la Bella and David Zurutuza, who are still recovering from their respective injuries. Mikel González, on the other hand, will miss out there due to a hamstring injury.
