Next Saturday, 30th of April 2016, a highly moralized Real Madrid will visit the Basque Country to measure forces with Real Sociedad at Anoeta Stadium for Round 36 of the Spanish Liga BBVA.

Last Saturday, Real Madrid had to dig very deep to overcome their neighbours Rayo on a rainy afternoon at Vallecas. The home side started the Madrid derby at full steam and with just 14’ minutes played they were already leading by 2-0. Adri Embarba netted the first of the day after a quality individual effort by Bebe and, seven minutes later, the usual suspect Miku scored the second, sending home a corner kick by Trashorras.

After their slow start, Real Madrid managed, nevertheless, to get back on the match, when Gareth Bale headed home a corner kick by Toni Kroos. Following the break, Los Blancos continued to pile on the pressure and the equalizer finally arrived when the Spanish wonder boy Lucas Vázquez sent home a good cross by Danilo. On minute 81’, the flying Welshman, Gareth Bale, benefited from a poor back pass by Embarba and sealed the win for Real Madrid netting his second of the day and the winning goal on a very complicated match for Los Blancos.

Next weekend’s match will surely also be a complicated one for Zinedine Zidane’s men. When Los Blancos visited Anoeta last season, they ended up defeated by 4-2 and they certainly want to avoid the same thing during their next outing. For that particular match, Zidane is not yet certain if he will be able to rely on the services of Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Carvajal, who keep struggling with minor injuries.

Before the match at Anoeta, Real Madrid will still measure forces with Manchester City for the first-leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-finals. 

As for Real Sociedad, after two consecutives defeats against SD Eibar and Getafe, the Basque team clawed a valuable point on their visit to El Madrigal last time out. Their recent inconsistency made them drop some places in the league table and they are now on the 12th place with 42 points from 35 matches.

Real Sociedad’s last win was precisely against Barcelona, when the Catalan team visited Anoeta early this month. Eusebio Sacristán’s men are, for that reason, hoping to apply the exact same recipe to Real Madrid, when both sides measure forces at San Sebástian next weekend. For that particular fixture, the Valladolid born manager is not yet sure if he will be able to rely on the services of Imanol Agirretxe and Jonathas, who are both still recovering from their respective injuries.
