Next Sunday, 10th of April 2016, a relegation-threatened Sporting Gijón will measure forces with Celta de Vigo at the emblematic El Molinón for Round 32 of the Spanish Liga BBVA.

Sporting Gijón failed to get anything better than a goalless draw from their visit to Comunidad Valenciana last Monday. It was a heavy rain night at Estadi Ciutat de Valencia, with both Sporting Gijón and Levante battling for the three points, but in the end none of the teams managed to grab them. The Asturian team had a great chance to open the score in the first-half when Pablo Pérez’s effort hit the post, but in the second-half it was Levante who were in control of operations and they might even consider themselves unlucky after Casadesus’ powerful effort slammed in the crossbar late in the match.

For the important fixture against Celta de Vigo next Sunday, the Asturian team head coach Abelardo Fernández will not be able to rely on the services of Bernardo, who will miss the rest of the season due to a knee injury. Alex Barrera, Alex Menéndez and Canella are still recovering from their respective injuries and they are in doubt out there.

As for Celta de Vigo, Los Celestes have failed to avenge last time’s defeat at Riazor when they met Deportivo de La Coruña at the Galician derby back on Saturday. It was a very even match between two fierce rivals and it were the visitors who opened the score by Celso Borges after a cross from Luis Alberto. Celta, nevertheless, managed to bounce back and almost ten minutes later, the usual suspect, Nolito, leveled the score with a superb effort from the edge of the box. “O Noso Derbi” ended with 1-1 draw and it was a fair result given what both teams did throughout the match.

Regardless of their home draw, Celta de Vigo have benefited from Athletic Bilbao’s and Sevilla’s slip ups, thus maintaining their position on the 5th place of the table. For next Sunday’s visit to El Molinón, Los Celestes’ boss, Eduardo Berizzo, will still not be able to rely on the services of Marcelo Diaz and Andreu Fontás, who remain sidelined due to injury.
