Next Saturday, 31st of October 2015, a free falling Villarreal will measure forces with an extremely motivated Sevilla at El Madrigal for Round 10 of the Spanish Liga BBVA.

After two consecutive league defeats, Villarreal put up an excellent display of power when they hosted Dynamo Minsk for the UEFA Europa League last week and won the match by a staggering 4-0. The Congolese forward Cédric Bakambu was particularly inspired in that particular match and netted his team’s first two goals. Despite such impressive win, Villarreal stumbled again last weekend in their travel to Gran Canaria, where they failed to get anything better than a goalless draw against the newcomers of UD Las Palmas. The islanders were motivated by the arrival of their new head coach, Quique Setien, and forced Villarreal to put in some extra work in order to leave Estadio Gran Canaria with a least a point in their bags.

After their strong league start, the Submarino Amarillo seem to be losing some of that initial stamina and have already dropped several places in the league table. The defeat at the Comunidad Valenciana derby against Levante and the domestic setback with Celta de Vigo left some deep wounds in the team and now it is up to Marcelino Toral to lift the player’s morale and return to wins as soon as possible.

For next weekend’s fixture against Sevilla, the Asturian head coach will most certainly not be able to rely on the services of Leo Baptistao, Mateo Musacchio and Sergio Asenjo, all of them sidelined due to injury.

As for Sevilla, as opposed to Villarreal, the Andalusia team are going through a positive moment in domestic competitions after snatching seven points from their last three matches.

Sevilla deserved more than a cruel last minute defeat when they visited Manchester City for the UEFA Champions League in middle of last week, but the Andalusia team bounced back immediately and granted a solid 5-0 win over Getafe last time out.

After a very slow start, Sevilla’s game has been improving drastically as the matches go by and, thanks to that, they have managed to climb several places in the league table over the last three weeks.
