Next Sunday, 20th of March 2016, Celta de Vigo will travel to the Comunidad Valenciana to measure forces with Valencia at Mestalla for Round 30 of the Spanish Liga BBVA.
A superb lob by Iago Aspas after a flawless Nolito’s assist provided Celta de Vigo with the goal that allowed them to defeat Real Sociedad at Los Balaídos last weekend.
Los Celestes controlled the first-half of the match and enjoyed from several good opportunities to score. After the break, however, the course of the match changed completely with Real Sociedad pushing Celta against the ropes on several occasions. The team’s poor finishing skills, together with Sergio Álvarez’s good performance, prevented, nevertheless, the Basque team from leaving Los Balaídos with at least one point in their bags.
Celta de Vigo reacted well to their painful 7-1 defeat at Santiago Bernabéu and last weekend’s win will certainly serve for them to move forward and put that bad day on the job behind their backs. The upcoming fixture against Valencia will certainly not be an easy one for Los Celestes, who will surely try to avenge last November’s heavy defeat at Los Balaídos. For that particular match, Eduardo Berizzo will not be able to rely on the services of the Serbian defensive midfielder Nemanja Radoja, who is currently suspended. Iago Aspas, Andreu Fontás and Pablo Hernández are currently injured and will also miss out there.
As for Valencia, Los Che had a week to forget. After last weekend’s painful defeat against Levante in the Comunidad Valenciana derby, Valencia were eliminated from the UEFA Europa League after losing to Athletic Bilbao on aggregate.
After a good streak of results last month that ended abruptly when Athletic Bilbao visited Mestalla on Round 26 of Liga BBVA and smashed Gary Neville’s men by 3-0, Valencia have once again entered in a spiral of inconsistency that culminated with the team’s elimination from the UEFA Europa League.
For next weekend’s important match against Celta de Vigo, the English head coach will not be able to rely on the services of Zakaria Bakkali and Denis Cheryshev, who are both sidelined due to injury.
