Next Sunday, 13th of December 2015, an extra motivated Real Madrid will travel to El Madrigal to measure forces with Villarreal for Round 15 of the Spanish Liga BBVA.
After the embarrassing 4-0 defeat at Santiago Bernabéu against Barcelona later last month, Real Madrid managed to return to wins at home when they hosted Getafe last weekend. Los Blancos put up a solid first-half performance scoring four goals in 38 minutes something that knocked their opponents completely out. Two goals from Karim Benzema, who hasn’t been able to separate his personal from his professional life lately, paved the way to Real Madrid’s ninth win of the season.
In the middle of the week, in their last UEFA Champions League group stage match, Real Madrid completely hammered Malmö by 8-0 with four goals from the usual suspect, Cristiano Ronaldo, and a hat-trick from Karim Benzema.
At the end of the match, the Portuguese international acknowledged that the team is getting better as the weeks go by and waved off the possibility of leaving the club at the end of the season.
Real Madrid’s upcoming match at El Madrigal will surely not be an easy one, but the team cannot allow any more setbacks if they want to let Barcelona escape at the top of the table. For that particular clash, Rafa Benitez, will not be able to rely on the contribution of Raphael Varane and Daniel Carvajal, both currently sidelined due to injury. Sergio Ramos is still recovering from a shoulder problem and he is in doubt next time out.
As for Villarreal, the Submarino Amarillo have been showing some signs of inconsistency lately and the two consecutive defeats against Getafe for La Liga and against Huesca for the Copa del Rey have left some deep wounds into the team.
Despite the negatives, Villarreal managed to bounce back and overcame Rayo Vallecano at El Madrigal last weekend. Marcelino Toral’s men put up a good second-half display and clawed the three points thanks to a late goal by Cedric Bakambu.
Leo Baptistao, Daniele Bonera and Mario Gaspar are still undergoing treatment for their respective injuries and they will miss out there.
