After making the very short trip across North London to the Emirates a fortnight ago, Tottenham will be bitterly disappointed they didn’t take all 3 points after looking the better side for large periods of the game. Mauricio Pochettino’s side executed their game plan perfectly but only gained another draw in the Premier League. That kept them level on 21 points with their next opponents, West Ham who also drew which meant Tottenham remained in 5th, 3 points off the Champions League qualification positions. Harry Kane is now starting to find his feet this season and it was a year ago this week that he made his first ever Premier League start. He has 5 goals in his last 3 Premier League games and will be looking to maintain his current club form after a disappointing performance for England against Spain on Friday night.
West Ham were left reeling after their 1-1 draw with Everton after James McCarthy’s vicious tackle on Dimitri Payet has left the winger with an ankle injury that is likely to take between 3-4 months to fully recover from. He has been Slaven Bilic’s star performer and he’ll be looking for someone to step up and fill the boots of Payet who has been arguably the stand out summer signing in the Premier League. West Ham have picked up just 1 point from the past 2 Premier League games but after encountering a blistering start to the campaign, Bilic’s side are just 3 points off Manchester United in 4th position. Diafrou Sakho has been in the middle of a country v club row with West Ham unhappy with how Senegal played Sakho last year when the forward had injuries but he was left out of the side that drew to Madagascar during the international break.
Tottenham remain unbeaten in the Premier League since the opening day of the season after losing to Manchester United. Pochettino’s side have drawn more games in the league than any other side (6). West Ham’s Mark Noble has the unwanted record of being the Premier League’s most dribbled past player this season with 26 separate incidents where Noble has seen his marker give him the slip. Tottenham are also top of the charts with goals from set pieces (7).
Erik Lamela picked up his 5th yellow card of the season at Arsenal and will now serve a 1 match suspension against West Ham. Nacer Chadli is definitely missing through injury whilst his Belgian colleague Moussa Dembele looks to recover from a calf injury. West Ham meanwhile are without Payet as mentioned and Pedro Obiang is targeting a return at the end of the month. Alex Song is also hoping to feature from the start of December. However, Enner Valencia’s timely return from a long term ankle injury coincides with the Payet absence and the Ecuadorian is likely to take his place.
