Next Monday, 14th of September 2015, a super motivated West Ham will entertain an extremely inconsistent Newcastle at the Boleyn Ground for Round 5 of the English Premier League.
After their surprising win at the Emirates Stadium during the EPL opening day, West Ham conceded two home defeats and left people wondering if that win over Arsenal was nothing but a random display of power. Slaven Bilic rallied the troops and West Ham produced a fantastic comeback at Anfield Road before the international break. The Hammers defeated Liverpool by a staggering 3-0 and left their highly enthusiastic supporters purring for more. The Croatian manager, who has made his return to England this season after having represented both West Ham and Everton back in his playing days, almost 20 years ago, is doing a solid job with the London team but he surely needs more time before he can fully implement his game processes in the team.
Next Monday’s clash against Newcastle is of the utmost importance for West Ham, who are still looking for their home win in the league this season. Bilic need fix his defensive sector, that, when playing home, tends to be fairly error prone and even childish from time to time. When both sides measured forces at Boleyn Ground last season, the match ended in a 1-0 win for the Hammers, thanks to a second-half goal from Cresswell.
Alexandre Song, Enner Valencia and Joey O’Brien are currently sidelined due to injury and will miss next Monday’s clash against the Magpies.
As for Newcastle, the new season have not been particularly brilliant for them so far. The Magpies have not yet managed to win a single match in the league by now and are currently second from bottom with just two points from four matches.
Before the international break, Newcastle was completely trashed by Arsenal’s attacking avalanche at St. James’ Park and although they have only lost by 1-0, the match’s final outcome could have well been fairly more penalizing for them.
Their newman, the Serbian renegade, Aleksandar Mitrovic, was sent-off on minute 16th and left his team playing with just ten men against such a powerful team as Arsenal. Newcastle only managed to have 26% of ball possession and only produced one miserable goal attempt.
