Manchester United are desperately trying to clinch a place in the top 4 of the Premier League but will be up against a motivated Leicester City side who are looking to defy 99% of the world and win the Premier League. A side that were written off into the Championship this time last year are now on the verge of winning the Premier League and it is up to Manchester United to prevent them for another week at least. United sealed their passage into the FA Cup Final on Saturday with an unconvincing 2-1 victory over Everton with a injury time strike from Anthony Martial. Only a blip against Tottenham has prevented United winning 7 games on the spin but Louis Van Gaal’s tenure at Manchester United still looks to be reaching it’s climax in the summer. Jose Mourinho has once again been in the tabloids this week with many newspapers stating that the board of directors have informed Mourinho the job will be his.
Claudio Ranieri can not sing the praises for his side enough and they are now just one victory away from winning the Premier League. At odds of 5000/1, Leicester really have performed a miracle this season. They hammered Swansea City last Sunday 4-0 and that was without Jamie Vardy who was suspended. Every positive adjective can be used to describe Leicester’s performances this season and no one can deny them the title should they win it. They have the best home and away records in the league and fully justify their place at the top of the league. Riyad Mahrez has been in sensational form all season and the £400,000 signing from Le Havre scooped the PFA player of the year award earlier this week. He has contributed immensely for Leicester with 17 league goals and 11 assists.
Jamie Vardy scored his record breaking goal against Manchester United earlier in the season when he scored in the 11thconsecutive Premier League game. United would go on to draw the game and Leicester were meant to gradually slide down the table from there. The last time these two sides met at Old Trafford, United ranaway 3-1 winners with three first half goals. Robin Van Persie and Falcao were amongst the goal scorers and Wes Morgan also knocked in an own goal. It might be a more memorable occasion for Morgan this time around with the chance of becoming a Premier League winning captain.
United can’t afford to rest players ahead of the FA Cup final as they still face a massive battle to secure Champions League football next season. Vardy has denied himself the chance of being part of Leicester’s game to be crowned champions as he was handed an extra games suspension for the verbal abuse he gave Jon Moss after his red card against West Ham. Leonardo Ulloa will be handed the forward position and will be looking to build on his brace against Swansea.
