Next Saturday, 22nd of August 2015, a moralized Manchester United will measure forces with Newcastle at Old Trafford for Round 3 of the English Premier League.
Two wins out of two matches was Manchester United’s Premier League promising start. After overcoming the Spurs at home two weeks ago, the Red Devils secured once again the three points during their visit to Villa Park last Friday night. It wasn’t by any means a brilliant performance from Louis Van Gaal’s men, nevertheless, they have fully deserved their win. A first-half goal from the reportedly misfit Adnan Januzaj proved to be enough to defeat Aston Villa, who left behind a very poor image of themselves and only managed to disturb Sergio Romero on rare occasions.
Juan Mata put up another quality performance and was the responsible for the assist that allowed Januzaj to score the only goal of the match. The Spanish playmaker seems to be on a very good moment and it is fair to say that he probably is one of the most influential players of team currently.
Next weekend, the three-time European champions will have tough bone to chew at Old Trafford as they will entertain a team that tends to be quite unpredictable. Not so long ago, in 2013, Newcastle surprised United at the Theater of Dreams thanks to a Yohan Cabaye’s goal in the second-half of the match and they will certainly try to revive that win next Saturday.
As for Newcastle, the Magpies started the new campaign with a home draw against Southampton but didn’t stand a chance in their visit to Wales last Saturday. Steve McClaren’s men were completely smashed by an utterly motivated and extremely organized Swansea and in fact made a fool of themselves during the match at Liberty Stadium.
Everything seemed to have gone wrong for Newcastle last Saturday, from Gomis’ early goal to Janmaat’s red card just before the break. This is a match that the Magpies surely want to forget as quickly as possible.
Last season, Newcastle were defeated at Old Trafford by 3-1 and if they want to pick up a different result this term, they will definitely need to do something very different from what they showed in Wales last weekend.
